Claude “Buck” William Kauffman, Jr. 78 of Olathe, passed away May 12, 2021 in Olathe, Kansas. Buck was born August 27, 1942 in Gardner, Kansas to Claude William Kauffman, Sr. and Caroline Louise (Hannon) Kauffman. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1960. Buck married Connie Lynette Dorst on November 27, 1965 at the Presbyterian Church in Olathe, Kansas. Buck was a metal polisher at his family’s business, Performance Plating. He was the third generation to work there. Buck was an avid drag racer and spent most weekends with his family and “racing family” at Kansas City International Raceway. Buck loved restoring antique cars and doing yard work. He took special joy in his three grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Buck was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Kauffman. He is survived by his wife, Connie Lynette Kauffman of the home; son, Brian (Shannon) Kauffman of Olathe; siblings: Carol Abell, Richard Kauffman, and Dennis Kauffman; and three grandchildren: Blayne, Alex, and Gage Kauffman.

Buck was always a friendly guy, at the track and at their business, I enjoyed talking with him.

There could only be one, Buck Kauffman. He and Connie were such a wonderful pair, and it was my great pleasure to work with them on a planning project. Good humor? Yes, indeed. Personality, lots.
What a guy! Many people will miss him, including me.

Many great memories of Buck in our high school years. Even though,I was younger than Buck, Lee had been his friend for life. Lee, Buck, Connie and I ran around together when I was in high school. We did lots of crazy things and enjoyed all our times together and the laughter. We will miss you our dear friend Buck. You were one of a kind, such a sweetheart.
