Betty Jene Petty, 80, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away September 21, 2009 at KC Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS, 913-592-2244. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be a private family service at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee, KS.

Betty was born on May 4, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, to Roy Gus and Dorothy Laura Arbogast Tyson. She graduated from Southeast High School in KC, Mo. Betty married Calvin Petty on July 31, 1947 in KC, MO. They lived in Overland Park, KS for over 30 years. She was a co-owner of Petty Products in Olathe, retiring in 1991. They retired to Bentonville, AR for 15 years, and moved to Spring Hill four years ago. Betty loved reading, cooking, flower gardening and her cats. Spending time with family and friends was very important to her. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother Roy and Marie Tyson, mother Dorothy Williams, and step-sister Billie Marie Weigt. Betty is survived by her husband Calvin, of the home; daughters Calayne and Gail Stanton and Diana and Robert Peterson, all of Spring Hill; step-sisters Patricia Stanton of Ohio and Beverly Boswell of Kansas City, MO; step-father Charles E. Williams of Ohio; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
