Obituary

Ralph Gordon Bruce, 77, Des Moines, Iowa passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 while visiting in Mesa, Arizona after a brief illness. Private graveside service will be at a later date at Prescott Cemetery, Prescott, Kansas. Condolences may be left at www. brucefuneralhome.com

Gordon was born in Manhattan, Kansas on August 19, 1942 to Ralph Arthur and Leota Vyrl (Hinderliter) Bruce. His family moved to Ottawa, Kansas where he grew up and graduated from Ottawa High School. Gordon earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. After graduation, he began a lifelong career in computer software development and execution. Gordon will be missed by family and friends.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by daughter Julie Buckner; sons: Scott, Neal and Stephen Bruce; sister Carrol (Tom) McCarthy; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Many cousins, nephews and nieces and special friend Wanda Ross.

I grew up just across the alley from Gordon and Carol and spent so many hours there with all of the other neighborhood kids. Carol your folks were always so welcoming to all of us, and there were so many of us. Such great memories.
I extend my sympathy to you and all of Gordon's family.
