Obituary for Marjorie J Roe (Squires)

Marjorie J. Roe, 83, of Olathe, passed away May 22, 2011 at KC Hospice House, KC, MO. Private family graveside 1:00 pm Wed., May 25, 2011 at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, KS. Marjorie was born May 4, 1928 in Gardner, KS to Charles Edward and Clytie M. Wilson Squires. She grew up in the Gardner and Edgerton area and moved to Olathe after graduating from Edgerton Rural High School in 1946. Marjorie married George Lester Roe on Aug. 2, 1952 in Arkansas. She was a secretary in the Food Service Dpt. of the Olathe Public Schools for 16 years; retiring in 1987. Marjorie was active in the Parkinson’s Support Group of Olathe. She was a great seamstress, loved to cook and enjoyed reading. Marjorie crocheted and made many items for her family. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband George; children: Sue and husband Karl Tillinghast, Lincoln, NE, Sheri and husband Allen Bowden, Wellsville, KS and Gordon and wife Jennifer Roe, Prairie Village, KS; sister Marilyn Mills, Grand Rapids, MI; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
