Obituary for William Fredrick "Bill" McKean

William “Bill” Fredrick McKean, 95, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Gardner, KS, passed away Jan. 31, 2021. Visitation 1:00 pm Fri., Feb. 5, 2021 with Funeral Service at 2:00 pm all held at Grace Baptist Church, 650 E. Madison, Gardner, KS. Burial follows at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, KS. Bill was born April 28, 1925 in Bassett, KS to William Silas and Mary Irene (Hurlock) McKean. He graduated from Chanute High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts from Friends University. Bill married Dorothy Perkins on Oct. 16, 1943 in Iola, KS. He was a minister; retiring in 1996. Bill served as a Chaplain for the Fort Scott Police Department. He was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of the Fort Scott Kiwanis. Bill loved to read. He will be missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy, in 2013; grandson: Darren Edward McKean; great-grandsons: Brandon Joel Russell and Douglas James Russell, Jr. Bill is survived by his daughter, Pat and husband Kenneth Bishop, Garland, TX; sons: John and wife Sandra McKean, Drexel, MO and Jim and wife Rhonda McKean, Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
