Wayne Elmer Frakes, 73, Quenemo, Kansas passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at Advent Health Center, Shawnee Mission, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Wayne and Carolyn’s home, 331 Kingman Rd, Quenemo, Kansas. Wayne was born on July 27, 1947 in Yates Center, Kansas to Eugene C. and W. Leone (Burns) Frakes. He graduated from Edgerton High School in 1966. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1966-1969. Wayne married Carolyn Meyer in Gardner, Kansas on March 13, 2010. He is best remembered for his love of the outdoors, mastery of hunting and fishing, and his extraordinary marksmanship with a bow or a rifle. His superior skill and craftsmanship were also evident to those who knew his work in a long career in heavy construction.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Lori Nelson; brothers Charles and Ronald and sister Rebecca. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of the home; children: Darin (Tena ) Frakes, Michael (Cassie) Messer and Tara (Allen) Robertson; son-in-law Daniel Nelson; sisters Sally (Hap) Cordell and Cindy Frakes (Tammy Hebert); mother-in-law Betty Meyer; grandchildren: Freddy, Ella, Chloe, Brady, Malaree, Quade, Keeghan, Creighton, Morgan, Aiden, James, Karmah, Allen and Brooklynn; many nieces and nephews; extended family and longtime friends.
