Thomas “Tom” O’Connor, 65, Olathe, Kansas passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at his home. Private burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Tom was born on March 7, 1955 in Cameron, Missouri to William and Mary Ann (Bretz) O’Connor. He grew up in Shawnee, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission North West High School. On July 20, 1974, Tom married Kathy Aldridge in Overland Park, Kansas. They moved to Arizona where Tom served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. While in Arizona Tom earned his A&P certificate. Tom and Kathy returned to the Johnson County area in 1978.
Tom worked in machine maintenance for Amcor in Lenexa for over 30 years and later with American Eagle Outfitters for 5 years in Ottawa, Kansas. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Gardner, Kansas. Tom enjoyed tinkering. His most precious time was spent playing with his grandchildren and being with his family.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son Shannon (Helen) O’Connor and daughter Kallie (Brandon) Jordan, both of Gardner, Kansas; siblings: Bill O’Connor, Sharpsburg, Georgia, Barbara O’Connor, Liberty, Missouri, Carol (David) Gates, Katy, Texas and Karen (Mark) Peeples, Belton, Missouri; step mother Phyllis O’Connor, Shawnee, Kansas; six grandchildren: Kiel, Cassie, Wyatt, Josie, Quintin and Lucas and two great-grandchildren with one on the way.
