Obituary for Ted Ralph Morse

Ted Ralph Morse, 76, of De Soto, KS, passed away, unexpectedly Sept. 25, 2020 at his home. Memorial service 2:00 pm Fri., Oct. 2 at De Soto Baptist Church Shelter, 8655 Copeland Way, DeSoto, KS. Visitation 1:00 pm before the service. Bring your own chair for outdoor seating. Inurnment follows at DeSoto Cemetery, DeSoto, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Ted was born Feb. 12, 1944 in Lawrence, KS to Fred and Leona Morse. He grew up in DeSoto where he graduated from high school in 1962. Ted played football and basketball for four years while in high school. He married his high school love Margaret Frances Periman on Sept. 19, 1964 in De Soto, KS.
Ted was a produce farmer from childhood thru the 1980’s. During this time he was one of the biggest produce farmer’s in the state of Kansas. Ted and Marge owned and operated the DeSoto Apple Market for 12 years. Ted loved being with people and doing the produce for the store.
After the grocery business, he changed occupation and went on to be a Construction Manager for Multatech Engineering and presently for Jax’s Engineering. He served as Railroad Inspector over new railroads and railroad repairs for Burlington Northern. During this time he traveled to North Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Arizona, and Tennessee for various railroad jobs. Ted had just finished 6 months building a new railroad in the Flint Hills of Kansas.
Ted also did Project Management jobs for John Pepper and Dave Anderson which included stripmall renovation.
He loved DeSoto and was very active in serving as the first president of the DeSoto Lions Club. Past President of DeSoto Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the DeSoto School Board, DeSoto City Council and The DeSoto Baptist Church.
When Ted wasn’t working, he loved gardening and fishing. He also loved remodeling homes. He constantly had a project going. But most of all, his love was his wife and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Morse. Ted is survived by his wife, Marge of the home; son, Jeff and wife Michele Morse, Basehor, KS; daughter, Jennifer and husband Mike Fitzwater, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren: Ashley, Jake, Justin and Jarett and four great-grandchildren: Emery, Ella, Easton and June Margret.
