Shirley Lea Roberts, 87, Gardner, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 13 2022 in Olathe, Kansas. Graveside service will be held at a future date at Excelsior Cemetery, Marquette, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be to Pawsitivetailskc.org. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
Shirley was born December 20, 1934 in Pratt, Kansas, to David Erwin and Edith Anne (Pearson) Leeper. She grew up in Hutchinson. Shirley married Edward MacClean in 1953 and moved to Hardin, Montana. On March 6, 1959, Shirley married Cecil Roberts and lived in McPherson, Kansas until June of 2000 at which time she moved to Gardner. Shirley worked in food service at McPherson Hospital for 10 – 15 years, retiring in 1990. Shirley was an animal lover, fostering animals and helping with animal rescues. She also loved playing bingo and babysitting her grandchildren. Shirley will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Cecil; brothers: Jerry Leeper and Forrest Leeper. She is survived by her children: Debbie Rott (Dave), McPherson, KS, Linda Maclean, Gardner, KS, Rick Roberts, Bentonville, AR, Cecilia Wedel (Tracey), Newton, KS, and Virginia Clark (Kelly), Winfield, KS; sisters: Thelma Hembree, Hutchinson, KS, Jeanne Montgomery, Decatur, IL; brother Erwin Leeper, Hutchinson, KS; eleven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
