Obituary for Ruth "Jane" Buckley

Ruth “Jane” Buckley, 90, Baldwin City, Kansas passed away Friday, April 1, 2022 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday May 31, 2022 at Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka, KS. 66611. Jane was born in Camden, New Jersey on July 28, 1931 to John Pemberton, Jr. and Ruth (McCandless) Cockroft.  She grew up in Cape May, New Jersey. After graduating from high school, Jane earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1953 from New Jersey College for Women. She married Thomas Lowell Buckley on June 27, 1953 in Cape May, New Jersey. They moved from New Jersey to Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Louis, Missouri and Topeka, Kansas. Jane was a high school economics teacher for seven years before becoming a Tupperware manager and ultimately a distributor in Topeka for 24 years.  Jane was an avid quilter and, after retiring from Tupperware, taught quilting for 10 years. She was a member of Capital City Quilt Guild and Countryside United Methodist Church, Topeka.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Buckley and brother John Pemberton III. She is survived by her children: Dr. Janet Buckley (Mike Richardson) Flagler Beach, Florida, Dr. Thomas (Cyndi) Buckley, Baldwin City, Kansas and John Buckley (fiancé Cynthia Satterfield), Palm Coast, Florida; sister Barbara Smith, Durham, North Carolina; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
