Russel Eugene Whitman, 63, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at his home. Celebration of Life will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Russel was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 31, 1959 to Robert Eugene and Jacklyn O. (Lane) Whitman. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1978. Russel was a bank teller at Valley View Bank for several years. He later worked for the IRS as a tax examiner, retiring in 2019. Russel married Georann G. Collins in Maryville, Missouri on August 3, 1991. Las Vegas was Russel’s happy place.  He loved traveling, especially being in the mountains and desert. Russel enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Family was the most important to Russel. His favorite time was spent attending family parties and gatherings. He had a deep appreciation of music.

Russel was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife Georann of the home; brothers Robert Whitman Jr., Shawnee, Kansas and Richard Whitman, Hawaii; sister Tracy Evans, Overland Park, Kansas; nieces: Kendra Whitman, Kenzie Whitman, Danielle Kimerer and Brittany Masingale; great nephew Sawyer Masingale and great nieces Jacklyn and Eloise Kimerer.
