Robert Steven Israel, 77, Mission, Kansas passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 with the funeral service to follow at 12 Noon at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, Kansas (913) 592-2244. Steve was born in Bethany, Missouri on April 8, 1945 to Robert Nelson and Elnora Muriel (Stevens) Israel. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1963. Steve married Linda Duffield on June 12, 1970 in Spring Hill. Steve was a Veteran, serving in the United States Army and United States Navy Seabee’s for over 17 years. He later worked in construction at the US Army Corps of Engineers in Lawrence, Kansas. He was an outdoor person who enjoyed fishing, bird watching, growing flowers, yardwork and cooking BBQ. Steve loved animals, especially their fur babies at home. He also loved reading books, mostly westerns by Louis L’Amour and Max Brand, and watching Chiefs football. He had a passion for old cars and attending car shows.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dick Israel and Larry Israel. He is survived by his wife Linda of the home; daughter Robin Tremonti and husband Louie, Overland Park, Kansas; sister Ellen Moreland, Spring Hill, Kansas; granddaughters Jessica and Sarah Tremonti and great-grandchildren, Samuel and Elaina.
