Robert “Bob” William Welch, 84, of De Soto, KS passed away Aug. 17, 2020. Graveside service and inurnment with military honors 1:00 pm Wed., Aug. 26, 2020 at De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, KS. A Celebration of Life will be held following the graveside at the De Soto VFW Post #6654, 33725 W. 84th St., De Soto, KS. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Bob was born Aug. 31, 1935 in De Soto, KS to Orville and Trula (Moody) Welch. He was a lifelong De Soto resident. Bob graduated from De Soto High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army for two years in Friedberg, Germany at the same base as Elvis Presley. Bob married Audrey Marie Cowan on Aug. 26, 1960 in De Soto, KS. He worked as a forklift mechanic and retired from General Motors. Bob was a life member of the De Soto VFW Post #6654 and enjoyed spending Saturdays with his VFW family. He was loved beyond words and will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey in 2013 and brother, Lonnie Kilgore. Bob is survived by his son, Mark Alan Welch, De Soto, KS; daughters: Lisa Gaye Welch and Sara Richelle and husband Kevin Ritter, both of De Soto, KS; five grandchildren: Ashley Marie, Brandon James, Cassi Renee, Dylan Wayne and Hayley Grace; three great-grandchildren: Micah, Hayden and Eli and sister, Reta and husband Jim Ellis, De Soto, KS.
