Obituary for Richard Wesley Bangs Jr.

Richard was born in Emporia, Kansas on July 22, 1954 to Richard and Nelda (Fankhauser) Bangs, Sr. He graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, Kansas. Richard joined the United States Marines after graduation. He was a tank commander during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Richard worked as a meat cutter for various grocery stores. He married his wife Marilyn on October 22, 2007 in Spring Hill, Kansas. Rick was considered an all American throwback who enjoyed playing the drums, listening to old rock and roll music, watching football, doing remodeling projects and enjoying a good steak. He had an unwavering faith in Jesus and liked to spend time studying his Bible.

Richard is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the home; daughters Jennifer and Megan; stepsons Garrett and Darren Witthar; mother Nelda Bangs, El Dorado, Kansas; sisters: Jan, Lisa and Dana; and grandchildren: Karson, Alivia, Brett, Ella, Calvin, Payton, Evelyn, Oliver and Henry.
