Obituary for Regina Virginia Wendte

Regina Virginia Wendte, 95, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at Overland Park, Kansas. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 306 E. Madison Street, Gardner, Kansas. Inurnment for Alfred and Regina will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Military Honors will be provided for Alfred’s service in Army. Regina was born June 15, 1927 in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas to Roger Milton Williams and Florence “Brecht” Williams. She grew up in Strong City, Kansas. After graduating from high school, Regina earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas. She married Alfred Wendte on June 4th, 1950 and moved to Block, Kansas. Regina worked for 38 years as a yearbook proofreader. She enjoyed being involved with her church bible studies. Regina had a passion for artwork, especially painting and photography. She loved her cats and gardening. Regina also loved attending the Lyric Operas of Kansas City.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two infant daughters; daughter Jeanetta Brown; grand daughter Andrea Wendte; grand son Jeremiah Shay; sister JoAnn Carlson and daughter in law Judy Wendte. She is survived by her children: Gerhardt Wendte, Overland Park, Kansas, Noel Wendte, Magnolia, Texas, Daniel (Diane) Wendte, Spring Hill, Kansas, Jon Wendte, Osawatomie, Kansas and Mary Griffin, Kansas City, Missouri; brother Roger Dale Williams, Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister Jeannette Mathies, Kansas; son in law Edward Brown; numerous grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
