Pauline Joyce Dana, 86, of Gardner, KS passed away at Parkview Heights in Garnett, KS on August 28, 2020. Visitation will be 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S Center, Gardner, Kansas 66030. Graveside with burial will follow at 12:00 noon at Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Pauline Joyce Dana was born on the family farm near Gardner, Kansas. Growing up she attended Bethel Methodist Church and the one-room Waverly school. She became active in Pioneer 4H. She married Dick Perdue of a neighboring farm and together they had six children, 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Later in life she worked as a nurse’s aide, was in charge of the Bible department at the Christian Book and Gift Shop in Olathe, was a unit secretary in the Olathe hospital, sold real estate and Avon, and also filled in for different secretarial jobs with the Olathe Public Schools.
She attended church for many years at Olivet Baptist Church in Westwood, at Victory Baptist Church in Shawnee, and later at College Church of the Nazarene where she answered Sunday morning phones and helped with her Sunday School class attendance. She was an excellent seamstress and often made her children’s clothes. She enjoyed crocheting and participated in the women’s prayer shawl group. She also participated in the Athena Greater Federated Women’s Club in Gardner, Kansas. She enjoyed some traveling. One of the highlights of her life was taking the whole family on a trip to Branson, which was a favorite destination of hers. Family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Pauline will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents: George Green and Elma Eleanor (Bowlin) Dana; sister Georgie Riggs and infant sister Mary Alice Dana. She is survived by her children: Janet (Alvin) Chriestenson, Garnett, Kansas, Victoria (Gary) Rothfus, Carlisle, Iowa, Don Perdue, Gardner, Kansas, Diana (Scott) Nelson, Olathe, Kansas, Dean (Beverly) Perdue, Argyle, Texas, Julie (Dan) Salisbury, Paola, Kansas; siblings: Edith Matthews, Hanford, California. 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with 1 on the way.
