Obituary for Norma Isabel Abbott (Edemann)

Norma Isabel Abbott, 82, West Palm Beach, Florida passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2020 with Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kansas 66030 (913) 856-7111. Norma was born October 11, 1937 in Brookfield, Missouri to Jeff and Bertha (Doss) Edemann. She grew up in Missouri and as a young child her family moved to Gardner where she graduated from Gardner High School. She was married in Olathe, June 9, 1956 to Robert “Bob” Abbott. Norma worked as an office clerk in the Kansas Department of Motor Vehicle Olathe, Kansas. She also drove a school bus for USD 231, Gardner, Kansas. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gardner, Kansas. Norma had a passion for quilting. She was an active participant in quilting guilds and was recognized for her talent as she displayed her works of art in shows and won many awards. Norma was an avid reader who loved to travel. She enjoyed spending her time with family. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Abbott; her parents; daughter, Debra Anne Abbott in 2001 and brother, Wayne Edemann. She is survived by daughters: Karen Jane Abbott, Loxahatchee, Florida and Linda Denise Abbott, West Palm Beach, Florida; sisters: Laura McKaig and Darlene Prier both of Gardner, Kansas; grandchildren: Summer Abbott and Samantha and Michael Pinkoff and numerous nephews and nieces.
