Mary Opal Pritchard, 85, of Gardner, KS, passed away May 8, 2021 at her home. Visitation will be held 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Bruce Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2021 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kansas 66030 (913) 856-7111. Masks are required. Burial to follow at Edgerton Cemetery, Edgerton, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgerton United Methodist Women or the Athena Club Scholarship Fund. Mary was born Sept. 29, 1935 in rural Gardner, Kansas to Kermit Lloyd and Lorena Pearl (Strickland) Klamm. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1953 and married Dale Allen Pritchard on May 21, 1961 in Edgerton, Kansas. Mary worked Customer Service for Broadway Collection in Olathe, Kansas for 27 years before retiring in 2004. She was also a homemaker for her family. Mary was a lifelong area resident and was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Gardner Athena Club, the Edgerton Historical Society, and both the Gardner and Edgerton Senior Centers. Mary was a hard worker, volunteering with the local food pantry and Johnson County Parks and Rec. She enjoyed attending book clubs and playing cards in many groups. She especially loved Bunko and Mahjong. However, more than anything, Mary enjoyed her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; son, Dennis Pritchard; brother, Carl Klamm and sister, Carolyn Oshel. She is survived by her children: Kenny (Brenda) Pritchard, Edgerton, Kansas, David (Sharon) Pritchard, Denton, Texas, Deanna Pritchard, Lebanon, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Janice Darling, Lenexa, Kansas; sister, Evelyn Summers, Olathe, Kansas; sister-in-laws, Maxine Klamm, De Soto, Kansas and Alice Rockhold, Baldwin City, Kansas; grandchildren: Shawn (Jennifer) Pritchard, Aimée (Jack) Hruska, Kyle (Leslie) Pritchard, Olivia (Riley) Shepherd, Katie (Blake) Waters, Daniel Shepherd; great- grandchildren, Brooke, Abigail, Joséphine, Lucas, Austin, Emmaline, and Logan.
