Obituary for Marvin Eugene Hines
Marvin Eugene Hines, 77, of Gardner, KS, previously of Agra, KS, passed away Oct. 10, 2020 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Agra. Marvin was born Sept. 2, 1943 in Colby, KS to Lawrence Ray and Grace Anna (Brown) Hines. He grew up in Hoxie, KS. Marvin married Martha “Marty” J. Rall on July 27, 1969 in rural Hoxie, KS. After marriage they traveled around, settling in Agra, KS in 1974 and moving to Gardner in 2020. Marvin served in the US Army in the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam. He was a high school math and computer science teacher for 32 years in the Kensington, KS School District, retiring in 2006. Marvin was very active in the Agra community where he served as mayor for 16 years. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington, KS and was a 47-year member of the American Legion Post #357 in Agra. Marvin enjoyed the lake and fishing. He will be missed by his family, friends and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Marvin is survived by his children; Mandra and husband Ken Bess, Gardner, KS and Robyn Hines, El Paso, TX; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
