Martha “Joann” Wroten, 75, of Gardner, KS passed away March 9, 2020. Visitation 1:00 pm and funeral at 2:00 pm all on Monday, March 16, 2020 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Wilmington, NC. Joann was born May 8, 1944 in Wilmington, NC to Steadmon and Julia Addie (Robinson) Raynor. She grew up in Wilmington where she graduated from New Hanover High School in 1962. Joann married Sidney Wroten on Feb. 18, 1966 in Wilmington. She was a school cafeteria worker at Ada Middle School and High School, Ada, OK. While in Oklahoma she served as a choir director and pianist. Joann was a member of First Pentecostal Church, Wilmington, NC. They moved to Gardner in 2014. Joann loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing and was a gospel music lover. Joann will be missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Edna Aycock. Joann is survived by her husband, Sidney, of the home; son, Christopher and wife Kelli Wroten, Gardner, KS; daughter, Karen Miller, Gardner, KS; brother, James Raynor, Woodbridge, VA; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
