Marguerite Charlene Peterson of Olathe, Kansas passed in peace on December 19, 2022 at the age of 83.

Marge was born on Sept 5, 1939 in Greenleaf, Kansas to Lloyd and Anna Peterson.  She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Lillis High School in Kansas City.  After high school, she attended Mount Saint Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education.

She devoted her life to the church and to teaching.  During her academic career she notably taught at Pius X in Mission, KS, Nativity in Independence, MO, Saint Thomas Moore in Kansas City, MO.

Marge was a free spirited soul who loved to be surrounded by love, laughter, lights, licorice and perhaps a little liquor for good measure.  She enjoyed an adventure but also loved quiet time at home with her beloved pets.  She lived a joyful life and believed that life should be enjoyed to the fullest.  She hosted the best parties and made anyone and everyone feel welcomed and loved.  Spending time with family and friends was her favorite thing.  She would light up any occasion with her presence.  Her cousins' weekends were historically the best times and perhaps the only time a kid could enjoy ice cream for breakfast.  Her smile was contagious and sometimes mischievous.  Marge's love for music and singing impacted her entire life.  To know her was to love her.  She was infamously everyone's "Aunt Marge."  She spent her eighty-three years of life sprinkling random acts of kindness like confetti.  Her humor surpassed her even up to her final hours. 

She is survived by her brother, Michael (Peggy) Peterson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Anna Peterson; her sister Mary Ann Foster (John); and her brothers Kenneth, Jerome (Wanda), and Daniel (Judy) Peterson.

Please join us as we celebrate this bright and colorful soul. A Rosary will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 12:30 followed by Mass and a lunch at Divine Mercy in Gardner, Kansas.  Inurnment will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 10:00 at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery located at 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd Kansas City, MO.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Mount Saint Scholastica at 801 S 8th St Atchison, KS 66002 or Divine Mercy Parish located at 555 W Main Street Gardner, KS 66030.  The family of Marge Peterson wishes to thank the Benedictine Sisters at Mount Saint Scholastica and Divine Mercy Parish.
