Lloyd Neal Messer, 70, of Gardner, KS. passed away March 2023.
Neal was born April 11, 1952 to Vernon L. and Beatrice (McCann) Messer and grew up at Antioch. He attended the Antioch one-room school and Gardner Edgerton High School where he played football and basketball as a member of the class of 1971. Neal worked as a lifeguard at the Gardner lake. Neal had an exceptional mechanical aptitude that showed from an early age. He knew everything there was to know about old cars. Neal founded several businesses in the building trades which he ran himself. He also invented interesting devices in his spare time. Although Neal had no children, he would often buy cookies to give to neighborhood children.
Neal is survived by his siblings: William (Bill) Messer, Martha Girard, Charles (Chuck) Messer, and Connie Vinson. He also is survived by seven nieces and nephews and fourteen grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Historical Museum to be earmarked for genealogy and research storage.
