Obituary for Leroy Lester
Leroy Lester, 89, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Olathe, passed away May 30, 2021 in St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS. Graveside service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Edgerton Cemetery, Edgerton, Kansas. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society. Leroy was born Dec. 13, 1931 in Hayti, MO to John Lewis and Pauline (Duncan) Lester. He was a life long resident of Johnson County. He married Mildred Allen on August 14, 1950 and had five children. Leroy served in the Army and was later the owner/operator of Leroy Transmission Service in Olathe. He loved his family and his work. In addition, Leroy enjoyed boating and fishing, hunting and shooting. He was the last of the great white hunters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John Jr. and Charles. Leroy is survived by his wife, Mildred; children: Jerry Lester of Topeka, Kansas, Elissa Lester (Frank) Roycroft of Topeka, Kansas, Stephen L Lester of Topeka, Kansas, Rene Lester Davis of Basher, Kansas, Monica Lester (Rick) McCarley, of Spring Hill, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
