Laura L. Beasley, 96, Gardner, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Bruce Funeral Home 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kansas 66030 (913-856-7111) with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. Laura was born on March 17, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harry Luther and Meda (Silvers) Blundell. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri before making her home in Independence, Missouri. In 2009, Laura moved to Gardner to be with family prior to making her final home at Homestead in Olathe, Kansas. Laura married Olen V. Beasley in Independence, Missouri on April 20, 1968. She worked from 1945-1960 as a jewelry department manager at Sears. Later, she was the head teller of Midcontinent Bank, Kansas City, Missouri, retiring in 1980. Laura was a member of the Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Missouri. Laura enjoyed making crafts and raising flowers, especially roses and moss rose. She had the special talent of playing the piano by ear. Laura loved her family and cherished family gatherings such as birthdays and weddings.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Judith Darlene Williams; brothers: Donald, Roy, Robert and Harry; husband John W. Williams and husband Olen V. Beasley. She is survived by her daughter Joyce (Dana) Scarlett, Gardner, Kansas; sister Meda (Irvin) Scarlett, Gardner, Kansas; grandchildren: Troy (Michelle) Scarlett, Hudson, Florida, Julie Scarlett, Louisburg, Kansas, Carrie (Roy) Parrott, Gardner, Kansas and Pamela (Donald) Hatch, Americus, Kansas; 10 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
