Larry was born in Savannah, Tennessee on November 3, 1946 to Rassie and Beatrice (Meyers) Holly. He grew up in Tennessee, moved to Missouri and then Spring Hill in 1991. He married Linda Utter on August 4, 1970 in Miami, Oklahoma.  They were married for 45 years. Larry worked in maintenance for JOCO Wastewater, Olathe, Kansas, retiring in 2009.

Larry was a hard worker even in retirement.  He was everyone’s Go-To Guy.  When he wasn’t fixing something, you would most certainly find him at his favorite hobby place, the auction, looking for another good deal.  What might be junk to some, were his treasures.  He loved his family and had so many treasured friends.  If you truly knew Larry Holly, you knew that he hated crowds, excluding his beloved auctions, of course.  He made it clear when his time came, he didn’t want a funeral, memorial or celebration of any kind.  He didn’t even want an obituary, too much personal information, he said, but he lost that request, sorry Dad.  Mom & Dad always said:  “if someone didn’t see me while I’m alive, they don’t need to see me when I’m not.”  We loved our Dad and our hearts are heavy.  We will miss him more than words can convey.  God had a bigger plan and decided it was time for him to finally get the rest he deserves.  No more pain, no more worry, just rest, and that is a true blessing from the Lord.  God gives us memories so that we can hold onto our loved ones in our hearts when they are gone.  Our Dad went to the Lord knowing how much he was loved, and we know how much he loved us.  That brings us peace and we hope it brings you peace too.

Larry is survived by his children Lisa (Gary) Lee, Edgerton, Kansas and Leslie (Norman) Holly-Frederick, Vista, California; brothers Jerry Holly, Gardner, Kansas and Ronnie Holly, Melvern, Kansas; six grandchildren:  Joshua and Holly Frederick, Vista, CA, Gary Lee, Jr, Olathe, KS, Amanda Bickley, Olathe, KS, Allyssa Lee, Gardner, KS. and Sharon Fenimore, Rifle, CO; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Linda and siblings: Judy Moore, Betty Shay, Ray Holly and Junior Holly.
