Kimber was born June 21, 2004 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She was adopted when she was 17 months old by her parents Russell Eugene and Annette Marie (Pfeifer) Lane. Kimber lived in Gardner all her life and was a junior at Gardner Edgerton High School. She and her parents are members at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Kimber participated fully in her faith and had the blessing of receiving her First Holy Communion on January 18th, 2020. She took horseback riding lessons at New Horizon Ranch. She loved to swim and to swing and to be cuddled by her family. Kimber’s most favorite thing was singing. Her friends, teachers, therapists, helpers, and family have enthusiastically joined her in hundreds of Journey, ABBA, Dora, and Happy Birthday sing-a-longs. Kimber’s joy will not be forgotten. Her beautiful smile and infectious belly laugh could light up any room.

Saint Mother Teresa says that we are made to love and be loved. Kimber Rose allowed herself to be loved and taught us all how to love. She was incredibly close to all of her family and will be deeply and profoundly missed.

Kimber is survived by her parents, Russell and Annette, Gardner, KS; siblings: Tyler and wife Jami Lane, Lenexa, KS, Jessica and husband Ross Knutson, St. Louis, MO, Samantha Lane, Kansas City, MO, Abigail and husband Tanner Hughes, Fairway, KS; nephews: Carter and Cohen and nieces: Hannah, Sloan and Lauren; paternal grandparents: Ross and Kathy Lane, Baldwin City, KS; maternal grandparents: Al and Arlene Pfeifer, Victoria, KS; and extended family of great-aunts, great-uncles, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Terry Benson wrote a sympathy message

“Kimber was a wonderful addition to the evening when she attended a LYRIC of LIFE benefit a few years ago with her parents and my long-time friends, Russ and Annette. It was the first time we met and her presence will always be remembered as one of enjoying an evening of celebration. She loved the atmosphere, the people, and especially the music. What a beautiful young lady.”

Russ, Annette, siblings of Kimber, and the whole Lane family,

I was very sad to learn of Kimber's passing and have held your family close to my heart since the moment I learned. I pray for peace of mind and healing for all of you, and will get with Rob to make a donation to the St. Teresa Charitable Trust in Kimber's honor. God bless you all.

So sorry to read of the tragic loss of your loved one. There are no words to ease the pain you must be feeling now. There is something I would like to share with you that has helped others in a similar time. Please read Luke 7:11-22. It shows that the Creator wants us to live and that Jesus has great compassion for those who have lost someone to death, He would never take someone we love, but will certainly give your loved one back to you. John 5:28,29 speaks of a resurrection of all those in Gods memory and Psalm 37:29 says that righteous people will live on earth forever. These passages are very encouraging. Pray for strength and our Heavenly Father will sustain you. Psalm 55:22. There is much Bible-based comfort to be found at
