Obituary for Katherine "Kay" Frances Kennedy (Crandon)

Katherine “Kay” Frances Kennedy, 82, Gardner, Kansas passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 at her home. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023 with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W. Main Street, Gardner, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Kay was born July 27, 1940 in Parsons, Kansas to Richard and Mildred Jean (Fortune) Crandon. She graduated from high school in Pittsburg, Kansas and attended Pittsburg State University to study nursing. On September 12, 1959, Kay married Harold J. Kennedy in Pittsburg, Kansas. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Kay enjoyed sewing, growing flowers, making floral arrangement, nature and the lake. She loved Jesus and was dedicated to her family. Kay volunteered at the soup kitchen and nurtured the hurt and heart of wounded souls.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard and sister Carolyn Morrison. She is survived by her husband Harold of the home; daughter Julie (Jerry) Hoerl, Kansas City, Missouri; sons Mark (Lynne Cameron) Kennedy, De Soto, Kansas and Scott (Jamie) Kennedy, Olathe, Kansas; sister Joyce Cameron, Overland Park, Kansas; brothers Tom Crandon, Derby, Kansas and Chuck (Jan) Crandon, Joplin, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
