Obituary for John Lee Johnson

 

John Lee Johnson, 81, Overland Park, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at his home. Private Graveside Service  will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2022.  Burial at De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online to Autism Speaks, in memory of John Johnson, https://www.autismspeaks.org/.  Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

John was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 20, 1941 to John Edward and Betty Marie (Ebeck) Johnson. He grew up in Kansas City Kansas, later moving to Bennington, Kansas and then to Overland Park, Kansas in 1994. John went to  Shawnee Mission North High School. He took two years of correspondence courses studying to be a pharmacist. On December 2, 1972, John married Lessie Louise Young in Bolivar, Missouri. John was a corporate trainer in Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri for Rollins, Inc. Rollins owns Orkin, the nation’s leader in pest control. John loved his family, instilling its value in the hearts of his children and grandchildren. His home was his haven and was open to all those he loved. He enjoyed his yard, garden, pond, birdwatching and woodworking. He was an avid KU fan. His favorite time of year was the holiday season.

John is survived by his wife Lessie of the home; son: Rick (Laurie) Johnson, Overland Park, Kansas; daughters: Cynthia (Damon) DeHoff, Olathe, Kansas, Robin (Eric) Reynolds, Leawood, Kansas, Chrissy (Raymond) Greig, Gardner, Kansas, Shauna (Dustin) Kraus, Shawnee, Kansas, Melanie (Cody) Holt, Overland Park, Kansas and Amber (Jessie) Schwartz, Overland Park, Kansas; brother Mike Johnson, Richmond, Missouri; sister Linda Maisch, Oak Grove, Missouri; brother Bob Johnson, New York; brother Brian Johnson, Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother Bruce Johnson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister Renee Johnson, Albuquerque, New Mexico and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son John Lee Johnson; sister Patricia Nelson and brother Brad Johnson.
