Obituary for Jerome "Jerry" F. Strausbaugh

Jerome “Jerry” F. Strausbaugh, 79, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away at his home from heart failure Saturday, February 19, 2022 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 with a Celebration of Life 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022 both at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083 (913) 592-2244. Inurnment to follow the Celebration of Life at Spring Hill Cemetery, Spring Hill, Kansas. Jerry was born on September 27, 1942 in Paola, Kansas to William Joseph and Della M. (Stiles) Strausbaugh, Sr. He grew up in the Paola, Louisburg and Spring Hill area. Jerry married Shirley M. Roberts on October 30, 1965 in Gardner, Kansas. He worked as a police officer at the Paola Police Department, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Louisburg Police Department, Ottawa Police Department and Spring Hill Police Department, where he became Chief of Police. After many years of police work, Jerry worked for KDOT as an inspector. He worked on the expansion of US 169 Highway around Spring Hill, spanning from 223rd Street to 175th Street as well as other projects until he was disabled in 1989. Jerry later owned A-Line Auto Electric and S&S Auto in Spring Hill. Jerry enjoyed helping the American Legion with Poppy Day.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Richard, Bill, Jr., Phil and Kenny and sisters Elizabeth and Judy. He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; daughters: Becky (Wayne) Noll, Spring Hill, Kansas and their children Emily, Fort Scott, Kansas and Luke, Spring Hill, Kansas, Sherry Strausbaugh, Spring Hill, Kansas and Jennifer Strausbaugh and her daughter Kayla, Spring Hill, Kansas; brothers Mike (Carol) Strausbaugh, Spring Hill, Kansas and Max (Ellen) Strausbaugh, Spring Hill, Kansas; sister Carmen (Kenny) DeGraeve, Bucyrus, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
