Obituary for James "Jim" L. Bruster

James “Jim” L. Bruster, 80, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083 (913) 592-2244. Jim was born October 6, 1939 in Bluefield, West Virginia to James Howard and Evelyn Mary (Hardesty) Bruster. He graduated from Greenbrier Military School, Lewisburg, West Virginia. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and Army Reserves. He married Patricia Bradley on October 11, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jim lived in Olathe before moving to Spring Hill, Kansas in 1994. He worked as an finance specialist at North Supply, retiring from Embarq. Jim loved playing and listening to music. In his early years, he played the trombone in marching band and a band called “The Velvatones”. He was very talented playing the piano and organ. Jim was always ready for a game of cards, playing pitch or hand and foot at the YMCA or Olathe Community Center. He also enjoyed dancing. He had a loving passion for his two dogs, Eli aka “Eli the Fox” and Charlie Brown aka “CB”.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife Patricia. He is survived by his stepdaughter Leigh Ann O’Herron and husband Tom, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; stepson Jay Stubbs, Houston, Texas; grandsons Davin and Colin O’Herron and companion Georgia Anne McCoy.
