Ivan was born March 11, 1929 in Pawnee, OK to Thomas A and Mary A. (Rich) Butler. He grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Olathe in 1972. Ivan served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Nan Butler, the mother of his children, in 1954. Ivan worked as the owner/operator for 39 years of Butler Tree Service in Olathe and Oklahoma. He also did remodeling for others. Ivan married Patsy Butler on June 23, 1974 in Miami, OK. He was a life member of the Olathe VFW and American Legion. Ivan served on the resident’s council of Poplar Court. He will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, in 1990; his parents; son, Ivan Joe Butler, Jr.; granddaughter, Angela Kilgore; siblings: Gloria Idalski, Carl Butler, Julia Sparks, Dorothy Police, Elouise Weichmann, Benny Butler, Sr., Frank Butler, Thomas Butler, Ethylene McGlaslin, Cathlene Marval, Thomasine Waymire and first wife, Nan. Ivan is survived by his children: Pam and husband Ralph Kilgore, Boise, ID, Janice Patton, De Motte, IN, Mary Jo and husband Robert Maag, Springdale, AR; Dory Scharer, Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren: Rachelle, Tina, Ricky, Kimberly, Christopher and Kelly; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and sister, Loretta Hays, Overland Park, KS.
