Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Wilbur James

Gerald “Jerry” Wilbur James, 81, of Lenexa, KS passed away Jan. 23, 2021 at Research Medical Center. Graveside service will be held 10:00 am Fri., Jan. 29, 2021 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, KS. Jerry was born June 7, 1939 in Monticello Township, Johnson County, KS to
Andy John and Lula Mae (Lawler) James. He graduated from St. John Memorial High School in 1957 and later from Railroad Apprentice School. After high school he worked for Hyer Boots. Jerry married Betty Lou Kisinger on July 31, 1959 in Olathe, KS. He served in the United States Army with the Military Police. After his military service he worked as a carman for Santa Fe Railroad; retiring in 1990. Jerry was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and coached girls basketball and softball teams. He loved trains, water skiing and woodworking. Jerry will be missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn Michael James; brother, John James and sister, Dorothy Sheldon. Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters: Kim (Shane) Stephenson, Olathe, KS and Julie (Michael) Falkner, Lenexa, KS; two granddaughters: Dr. Ashley Dreiling and Antonia Falkner.
