Obituary for George William Donohue

George William Donohue, 84, Olathe, Kansas passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his home, two days after his wife Gloria.  Graveside Inurnment for George and Gloria will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Prairie Center Cemetery, Eudora, Kansas.

George was born in Kansas City, Kansas on August 2, 1938 to George Vincent and June (Brown) Donohue. He grew up in Rosedale, Kansas. He married Gloria May Aldridge on March 5, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas. They were married for 62 years. George was a railroad conductor for Santa Fe/BNSF Railroad, retiring in 2007. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. George and Gloria loved to travel, especially visiting Branson. He enjoyed Irish music by Daniel O’Donnell and Saturday evenings at Big Creek. George’s family were his pride and joy. He was passionate about his yard and loved spending time mowing.

George was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gloria and sister Sydney Donohue. He is survived by his daughters: Jill (Earl) Allen, Spring Hill, Kansas, Jane Collins (Keith Hunter), Olathe, Kansas and Julie (Randy) Meeder, Spring Hill, Kansas; sister Penny Marquis, Prairie Village, Kansas; brother Tom Donohue, Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren: Audrey, Kendra (Dallas), Evan (Kathleen), Logan, Grady and Tate and four great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to George’s daughter Julie and Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care and compassion during the last month of his life.
