Obituary for Freeman Ray Eldridge Jr.

 

Freeman Ray Eldridge, Jr., 84, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.  Visitation will be 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022 and funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28 2022 both at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083 (913)592-2244. Burial  Spring Hill Cemetery, Spring Hill, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given for a memorial bench at the Spring Hill Baptist Church. Ray was born in Windsor, Missouri on March 31, 1938 to Freeman Ray Eldridge, Sr. and Stella Frances (Waldburger) Eldridge.  He graduated from Windsor High School in 1956. Ray married Virginia Coleman in Olathe, Kansas on January 14, 1968.  He worked at Delco, retiring after 36 years and was a member of UAW#1021. Ray was a member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church for 41 years and served as Deacon. He loved to tinker with cars, motorcycles and small engines and build with wood. Ray enjoyed building trikes with his friend, Bob. He was a member of the Kansas Old Time Pickers and Fiddlers and Singers, East Central Kansas Brothers of the Third Wheel, Eagles and FFA. Ray has lived in Spring Hill for 49 years. He truly enjoyed time with family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was happiest spending time outside with them and always showing them how to get into mischief. 

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elfreda Polfer and Delores Collins and brother James Eldridge.  He is survived by his wife Virginia of the home; son Michael (Liz) Nelson, Portsmouth, United Kingdom; daughter Janet (David) Bennett, Osawatomie, Kansas; grandchildren: Peter, Samantha (Kiel), Tammy (Troy) and Paige and great-grandchildren: Angel, Harmony, Aurora, Faith, Corey, Cayden, Christian, Aria, Skyler, Levi, Lana, Delilah and Georgia.
