Frances Ella Newton, 101, Gardner, Kansas passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Wellsville Health and Rehab, Wellsville, Kansas. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kansas 66030 (913) 856-7111. Private family graveside service will be May 26, 2022 at Walnut Creek Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas. Memorial contributions in memory of Frances may be made to VFW Gardner Post 11234. Frances was born January 26, 1921 in Hartington, Nebraska to Charles Floyd and Ella Emma (Farmer) Willard. She graduated in 1939 from high school in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Frances married Jay Paul Newton on April 22, 1939 in Cassville, Missouri. Frances and Jay made Gardner, Kansas their home 67 years ago to raise their children. Family and friends meant everything to Frances. She will be remembered for her sharp mind, never forgetting a birthday. Her keen sense of humor was treasured by her family. She touched the lives of her many friends who will miss her dearly.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her children: Jay Paul (Marcia) Newton, Jr., Wichita, Kansas, Robert W. (Beverly) Newton, Olathe, Kansas, Karen (Gary) Lawson, Eudora , Kansas and John G. (Janet) Newton, Wellsville, Kansas; grandchildren: Jay Paul Newton III, Matthew J. Newton, Rachael L. Briggs, Kevin W. Lawson and Clinton G. Newton and great-grandchild Ella Grace Briggs.
