Forrest was born in Bellingham, Washington on August 20, 1950 to Simon F. and Elizabeth (Stuurmans) Stremler. He grew up in Washington where he graduated from Lynden Christian High School. On December 16, 1989 Forrest married Laurel Anne Fish in Lynden, Washington. They lived in Topeka, Kansas before moving to Spring Hill in 1998. Forrest was a truck driver for Geiger Ready Mix, Olathe, Kansas. He enjoyed keeping busy and was happiest when he was working. Forrest was often busy working in his yard and caring for the flowers. He was a member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church, Olathe, Kansas.

Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Sonia VanderVeen and Dorothy Ann Degger. He is survived by his wife Laurel, Olathe, Kansas; sister Maribeth (Arlo) DeZeeuw, Lynden, Washington; brother Sheldon (Florence) Stremler, Oak Harbor, Washington and brother-in-laws Fred Fish and Warren Fish.
