Obituary for Deloris Virginia Cordell

Deloris Virginia Cordell, 91, Gardner, KS passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital, Gardner, KS. Private family Visitation will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S Center, Gardner, KS 66030 (913) 856-7111. Graveside service will be 11:30 am following the visitation at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, KS. Deloris was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 4, 1929 to Dennis and Ida Mae (Hamlin) Springer. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. Her family moved to Gardner when her father opened a barber shop in town. She married Farrell Jean “Dude” Cordell on January 5, 1946. Deloris worked as a bookkeeper at Ford in Lenexa, Kansas for 27 years. Before that, she worked at the soda fountain in Everett Lewis Drug Store. Deloris was a Baptist, as her father was a Baptist minister. She loved to travel and visited all 50 states, as well as Europe with her grandchildren. Deloris enjoyed playing Bingo and was on a bowling league in Olathe. Going to the casinos was a favorite pastime for Deloris. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dude in 2008; daughter Ginger Lee Chavez; three brothers and six sisters. She is survived by her son Farrell J. “Hap” Cordell and wife Sally, Gardner, Kansas; 8 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
