David Nelson Peavy, 76, Gardner, Kansas passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023 with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kansas (913) 856-7111. David was born in Olean, New York on September 1, 1946 to Nelson Allen and Margaret Virginia (Golden) Peavy. He graduated from Cameron County High School. David earned an Associate’s Degree in 1972 from Paul Smith’s College in Forestry and his Bachelor of Science in 1984 from Indiana University. David also studied at MidAmerica Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary. He married Susan Jordan on April 5, 1969 in Emporium, Pennsylvania. David was a United States Marine Veteran. He moved to Olathe in 1983, then to Spring Hill and finally Gardner. He worked as a crossing guard for Gardner School District. David enjoyed collecting owl figurines and eagle quarters. He loved being a birder. David made canes, based on his logger experience and provided them to his friends. David was a member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene.

David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joseph Peavy and James Peavy and sisters: Mary Say, Patricia Naramore and Margaret “Peggy” Zimmerman. He is survived by his wife Susan of the home; sons Nelson Peavy, St. Louis, Missouri and Ben Peavy (Gwyn), Cadiz, Kentucky and grandchildren: Alex, Christina and Jason Peavy.
