Dannie Lee Taylor of Lenexa, KS left this earth to meet his beloved God, Jesus Christ Dec. 28, 2021, following a short illness. A private visitation will be held January 7th at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S Center, Gardner, KS followed by a private military burial, Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel House of Prayer.
Dannie was born in Centerville, IA ,August13, 1957 to Earl Fred Taylor and Annabeth (Davis) Taylor. Dannie grew up in Corydon, IA. When Dannie was thirteen years old, Dannie and his family moved to Ottumwa, IA. Dannie graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1976. Dannie served in the United States Marines from 1976-1979 and served in Okinawa. Dannie attended Texas State Tech and studied electronics and welding following his military service. Dannie and son, Lee moved from the Waco, Texas area to Easton, KS in the late 1990s and to Lansing, KS, 1998. Dannie was an independent contractor owner/operator for Fed Ex Ground, Shawnee, KS from 1998-2010. Dannie managed the audio system for the Protestant Church Services at the Main Post Chapel on Fort Leavenworth from 1998 - 2006. Dannie married Guyla Taylor on April 30, 2005. Dannie and Guyla lived in Lansing, KS until moving to Lenexa, KS in 2007. Dannie won 3rd place in the Straight Truck Class in the KMCA Professional Truck Driving Championships for three straight years 2006-2008.
Dannie was an independent contractor for Forward Air Solutions, Kansas City, MO from 2010-2020. Dannie competed in the KMCA Step Van Class and won 2nd place in 2011. Dannie worked as company driver for Forward Air Solutions which is now US Logistics Solutions and was promoted to Transportation Supervisor in 2021.
Dannie was preceded in death by his younger brother, Douglas Taylor. He is survived by father and mother Fred and Annabeth Taylor, Ottumwa, IA, his wife, Guyla of the home, son, Lee Taylor, Columbus, Indiana, daughter Jessica Mason, Bartlesville, grandchildren: Evan, Faith, Tytus, Wells and Freddie; siblings: Katherine Kopp, Ottumwa, IA, David Taylor, Edmond, OK, Darrell Taylor of Ottumwa and Kristi Talbert, Ottumwa.
