Obituary for Curtis Wayne Swartz Sr.

Curtis Wayne Swartz, Sr., 64 of Gardner, KS passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at his home. A casual Celebration of Life will be held Saturday February 26th at 5:30 in the evening at the Senior Citizens Center in Gardner, KS. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Curtis was born in Oklahoma, May 24, 1957 to Carl Howard and Rubie Ellen (Briggs) Swartz, Sr. He grew up in Girard, KS and attended Girard High School. Curtis moved to Olathe, KS in 1978 where he spent many years. Curtis and the entire Swartz family spent much of their time at various sporting events. You could find him playing softball any night of the week, and pick up football game here and there. Curtis was involved in Olathe Youth Baseball program and coached several teams alongside his dad Carl. He loved playing darts, a game of pool, playing golf and watching Nascar. He was the life of the party! While Curtis had a bold personality and wasn’t afraid to share his opinion good or bad, he was also true family man and would do anything for anyone and give the shirt off his back if needed. He loved his children and had so much pride for his grandchildren. He and Julie moved to Gardner in 2002, and married soon after on May 22, 2003. Curtis worked as a rock quarry loader and operator retiring in 2018 from Johnson County Aggregates in Olathe.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Ellen Swartz. He is survived by his wife Julie; children: Justin (Dawn) Swartz, Bonner Springs, KS, Troy Swartz, Bonner Springs, KS; Curtis (Kimberly) Swartz, Jr., Pittsburg, KS and Misty (Dan) Canady, Pittsburg, KS; siblings: Sherry Porter, Branson, MO, Chip (Kristin) Swartz, Gardner, KS, Carla Sue Swartz, Overland Park, KS and Carolyn (Ron) Mynatt, Joplin, MO and his nine grandchildren; Piper, Paige, Blayne, Cohen, James, Mariah, Brookelyn, Kameron, James.
