Craig was born May 15, 1956 in Paola, KS to Floyd Bernard and Christine Opal (Buchanan) Everhart. He grew up and lived in Overland Park, KS prior to moving to De Soto, KS in Jan. 2002. Craig married Denise Elaine Hower on Sept. 1, 1978 in Westport, MO. Craig was a member of the BSA for most of his life and met Denise thru their Explorer Program. Craig loved going to Philmont Scout Ranch in his youth and was able to attend Philmont as a Asst. Scoutmaster with both his boys, which was the perfect way to end their scouting adventures for all three. He worked as a Senior Park Worker for Johnson County Parks and Recreation District from 1984-2005 and for KDOT as an Engineering Tech 1 from 1978 to 1984. Craig and his best friend, Glen Sharp who was his partner in crime, although they were never arrested. They both had great senses of humor and loved teasing Denise most of all. Craig enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, basically anything to do with nature and passed the love and skills of outdoor survival to both his sons. He also grew up roller skating, water skiing, and easily learned how to snow ski as a adult. He attended De Soto United Methodist Church. Craig will be dearly missed by family and friends. Thankfully God never gave Craig or Denise more than they could handle, and they lived a truly blessed life!
