He was born April 27, 1932, in the rural area of Buffalo, Missouri. Charles (Chuck) was the son of Loren and Ruth Bryant. Charles also well known as Charlie, is survived by the love of his life and wife of 43 years, Sylvia M. Bryant, a daughter Debra L. Hunter and Grandson Zach of Blue Springs, Missouri, daughter Sandra Welk of Washington, grandchildren Toni and Ralph Jr., stepdaughters Cissy and Diana, a Brother Leland Bryant and wife Margaret of Hampton Virginia. Also survived by a Special niece Ann Herman Carnifax, of Williamsburg, Virginia and nephew Michael Herman of Olathe, Kansas. He also leaves many wonderful nieces & nephews and great-nieces & nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by both of his parents, a brother George Bryant, two sisters Gene Mason and Louise Bishop.
Charlie grew up in Dunnigan, Missouri and joined the Air Force at the age of 17. He retired from military service in 1972, with almost 24 years of honorable service. He spent several tours of duty in Japan and Korea. After retiring from the Air Force, he needed something to keep busy, so Charlie started work with Lakeview Heights and was general manager of several rental units for 41 years. While working together, he met Sylvia his to be wife and forever partner.
Charlie had many interests. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, making yard ornaments and bird houses, carving ducks and figurines, leather crafts, flowers and gardening. He always kept busy and applied his crafty, creative side. He built his own model railway in his basement and enjoyed showing it off and fine tuning the detail.
Charlie was committed to family, working hard and having fun along his journey. He was always up for a drive in the country to view whatever wildlife and flowers that may be in bloom. Charlie had a presence of his own and shared his humor wherever he ventured. He is also known to enjoy a good western book and movie. He was rarely seen without his cowboy boots and hat.
A special thank you to close neighbors, friends and all caregivers for their support to Charlie and the family. The family suggests In lieu of flowers a memorial gift to Inspire Hospice, 11827 W. 112th, Suite 100, Overland Park, KS 66210. Arrangements handled by Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner, Kansas.
