Carl James Foster, 93, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at Spring Hill Care and Rehabilitation Center Spring Hill, Kansas. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023 with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, Kansas (913) 592-2244. Carl was born in Calico Rock, Arkansas on March 24, 1930, the youngest of 9 children, to Calvin Clayton and Maude (Marchant) Foster. He grew up in Calico Rock. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force where he was a fire fighter. On August 8, 1958 Carl married Shirley M. Trammell in Miami, Oklahoma and they soon moved to Spring Hill. He worked for the JOCO Sheriff Office for 20 years, retiring in 1988. Carl enjoyed watching KU basketball, Kansas City Royals baseball and Chiefs football. He loved to go out to eat with his family and friends and always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley in 2021; son-in-law Daniel H. Robertson; siblings: Kate Stapleton, Lois Stapleton, Hubert Foster, Florene Lamb, Ruth Howard, Ilene Guynn, Inez White and Alonzo Foster. He is survived by his children: Carl Dean (Susie) Foster, Buffalo, Missouri, Brenda Kay (Richard) Hall, Spring Hill, Kansas, Kenneth Eugene (Lisa) Foster, Spring Hill, Kansas, Linda Fay Robertson, Spring Hill, Kansas and Alan James (Debbie) Foster, Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren: Sarah, Amber, Nick, James, Kim, Holly, Ali and Chris and 13 great-grandchildren.
