Barbara Jean Lewis, 89, Gardner, Kansas, (formerly of Greenville, TX), passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:00 a m, at Lynch Funeral Service, 4238 State Highway 34, Greenville, TX 75402. Funeral service will follow at Lynch Funeral Service at 11:00 a m with committal at Memoryland Memorial Cemetery, in Greenville. Barbara was born in Moline, Illinois on July 18, 1932 to Henry Mayfield and Melissa Elizabeth Tomlinson. Barbara grew up in Illinois and lived there until 1973. She graduated from United Township High School, East Moline, Illinois. She married Herbert Charles Lewis on March 2, 1951 in East Moline, Illinois. She was a part-time financial secretary, a homemaker, and raised her three children. Barbara was a very involved member of the Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene. She lived in Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana and Texas before moving back to Kansas in 2018 to be near her daughters in Gardner. Barbara was always willing to help those in need. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, cross-stitching and loving on her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert and brother James Edward Tomlinson. She is survived by her children: Debbie (Steve) Garcia, Raymore, Missouri, Mike (Jan) Lewis, Greenville, Texas and Laurie (Nathan) Rushing, Gardner, Kansas; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
