Avery was born in Olathe, Kansas, on September 20th, 2002, to Sara and Robert Hotchkiss. She graduated from Gardner Edgerton High School where she thrived in The Emergency and Fire Management Services Program. Following, she became a National Certified Firefighter through Johnson County Community College’s Fire Science Program. Along with becoming a Firefighter, she was working toward her licensure as a Paramedic. Avery was an active member and volunteer Firefighter at Edwardsville Fire Department of Kansas.

Avery was an incredibly beautiful and multi-talented young lady. Her consistent tenacity was a constant proving ground of her promise and potential. She was fiercely independent, never allowing anything or anyone to hinder her from achieving her prioritized goals. Avery’s voracious zest for life and contagious energy inspired and motivated others that were privileged to be near. She carefully listened to the hearts of others giving her the ability to “see” others and instantly include them.

While growing up, Avery took full advantage of every moment. With an insatiable appetite for life, she engaged in as many activities as possible. Wasting not a moment, Avery enjoyed her time participating in volunteer firefighting, club and high school soccer, art, rock climbing, playing the drums, being active in her church youth group, and investing in friends and family. Avery loved to stay active, and her enthusiasm was driven by her desire to meet and make as many new friends as possible. She was especially gifted at making a friend of anyone with whom she came into contact, especially those who needed one most.

Avery was preceded in death by her grandmother, Kim Martinez. She is survived by her parents, paternal grandparents, Robert and Joan Hotchkiss, Jr. of Parkville, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Suzann Wilson of Olathe, Kansas; aunts and uncles, Brian and Emily Wright, Ronnie and Amy Bloodgood, David and Amber Hotchkiss, Brett Hotchkiss, Kelly Rendon; cousins, Tyler Wright, Kaitlyn Bauer, Christopher Bloodgood, Claire Bloodgood, Cooper Bloodgood, Benjamin Hotchkiss, Heidi Hotchkiss, Alexander Cruz and Arianna Rendon.
