Albert Richard “Dick” Gieringer, 83, formerly of the Gardner/Edgerton area, passed away Feb. 16, 2020 at Wellsville Retirement Center. Visitation 5:00-7:00 pm Wed., Feb. 19, 2020 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Funeral 10:00 am Thurs., Feb. 20, 2020 also at the funeral home. Dick was born April 12, 1936 in Martin City, MO to George and Erin Lue (Phillips) Gieringer. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1955. Dick married Mary Jane Moore on June 1, 1955 in Gardner, KS. Dick was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gardner, KS. He was the owner/operator of A. R. “Dick” Gieringer Builder. Dick built many homes and businesses in Gardner and was well known for his beautiful trim work. He also farmed with his son and served as a Gardner City Councilman. Dick was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa. He was lovingly known by his grandchildren as “Pa.” His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dick will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Helen Potter. Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Gieringer, of the home; sons: Frank and Melanie Gieringer, Edgerton, KS and David and Debra Gieringer, Spring Hill, KS; brother, George Gieringer, Jr., Lodi, WI; five grandchildren: Megan Gieringer, Chris Gieringer, Samantha Coyan, Kelby Rucker and Brice Wiswell and four great-grandchildren.
