Margaret Lydia (Beaird) Riley, 98, of Olathe, KS passed away Nov. 25, 2018 at Travanse Living. Visitation 10:00 am Sat., Dec. 1, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 920 S. Alta Ln., Olathe, KS. Funeral service follows at 11:00 am also at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church. Margaret was born Aug. 3, 1920 in Rosedale, KS to William Bartlett and Sadie (Buchanan) Beaird. She and her brother were raised by grandparents, Margaret and William Trautman, after the death of their parents. Margaret graduated from Argentine High School in 1938. She married Alfred Leonard Riley on July 2, 1938 in Argentine, KS and they were married for 43 years until his death on Aug. 24, 1981. Margaret was employed by the state by Social and Rehabilitation Services in Johnson County for 27 years and retired in Nov. 1982. She was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Olathe where she was a member of their choir, the Women’s Missionary League and the Altar Guild. Her life was built around her family and church. She was a volunteer at her church, with Olathe Hospice and other Social Service Agencies. Margaret will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother, William Beaird; husband, Alfred; a great-granddaughter, Christina Rockers; sons-in-laws: Ray White and Patrick Sharon. Margaret is survived by daughters: Diana Sharon, Olathe, KS and Judy White, Edgerton, KS; son, Michael Warren and wife Lynne Riley, Austin, TX; 10 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
